Moving Mcafee EPO to a new server
Hi all,
Has anyone any experience of moving an existing EPO server onto a different server? This is something I am attempting to do now, but am having difficulty connecting the new install of EPO onto the attached sql database files. At the moment I am going around in circles and getting very frustrated, Mcafee's site is useless and has no info on it at all!!!
Cheers
nick

You can try this guide:
Recommended steps for migrating or moving the ePO database to a new SQL server
Step 1 - Stop Services
Click Start, Run, type services.msc and click OK.
Right-click on the following services and select Stop:
For ePO 3.5
- McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 3.5.0 Discovery and Notification
- McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 3.5.0 Event Parser
- McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 3.5.0 Server
For ePO 3.6
- McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 3.6.0 Application Server
- McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 3.6.0 Event Parser
- McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 3.6.0 Server
Step 2 - Take back ups
Back up the ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) database.
Restore the newly created backup on the new SQL 2000 server.
On the ePO server, navigate to the following directory and double-click on CfgNaiMs.exe:
...\Program Files\Network Associates\ePO\3.5.0\ (default installation path for ePO 3.5.0)
...\Program Files\McAfee\ePO\3.6.0\ (default installation path for new installation of ePO 3.6.0)
On the SQL Server tab, enter the new SQL server name and enter the database name in the required fields.
Click the Administrator tab and select the appropriate authentication for the new SQL server and enter the credentials here.
Click the Reviewer tab and select the appropriate authentication for the new SQL server and enter the credentials here.
Step 3 - Delete registry values
IMPORTANT: ONLY implement this step 3 if you migrate the database from a local SQL server or MSDE server to a remote SQL server or MSDE server.
Click Start, Run, type regedit then click OK.
Navigate to the following registry key:
[HKLM\System\Current ControlSet\Services\EVENTPARSER3xx]
Right-click on the value DependOnService and select Delete.
Navigate to the following registry key:
[HKLM\System\Current ControlSet\Services\RSDSERER3xx]
Right-click on the value DependOnService and select Delete.
Step 4 - Start Services
Restart the ePO services that were previously stopped in Step 1.
Right-click on each McAfee service and select Start:
For ePO 3.5
- McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 3.5.0 Discovery and Notification
- McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 3.5.0 Event Parser
- McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 3.5.0 Server
For ePO 3.6
- McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 3.6.0 Application Server
- McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 3.6.0 Event Parser
- McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 3.6.0 Server
Step 5 - Configure documents
Copy SQL-Jobs.sql from the ePO installation directory (...\Program Files\Network Associates\ePO\3.x.x) to your desktop.
Open SQL-Jobs.sql in Notepad.
Replace all instances of SERVERNAME_ePO to: "<ePO DB Name>" in SQL-Jobs.sql.
Save and close SQL-Jobs.sql.
Run the new SQL-Jobs.sql through query analyzer.
Log on to the ePO console. See KB42032 - Logging on to the ePO console.
Verify that the database has transferred successfully.
