You're joking me? I created custom CC3 XP SP3 images a long, long time ago.
:o SP3 came out in April 2008! That's nearly 2 years late!! What on earth?
Ouch, very late considering this

XP SP2 goes EOL on July 13th.
Well, we're still waiting for XP SP3 on CC4, so that's even later! Yes, it comes with SR2, but that isn't at general release yet...
Well from previous threads we all know how important software updates are :D
That's almost certainly the only reason RM bothered releasing it at all.
A word for those about to deploy: when you install the package onto the RM server, one of the updates it provides is a new version of RM AppAgent. This will be allocated automatically to the site even if you're not allocating SP3 immediately, and it will cause workstations to reboot a few times next time the package manager runs. Plan accordingly.
Depends on how you look at it.
There is little difference between a fully patched SP2 machine and SP3 machine.
The way RM have gone about it means you have to build a SP2 machine and stick SP3 on top then patch it anyway.
Its a shame they didn't slipstream the SP3 onto the build area, would have saved a lot of hassel with the HD audio drivers etc and also not having to apply it once the station is built with sp2.
Can i ask is it possible to slipstream SP3 on CC3, has anyone give it ago or does this break things?
Ash.
Not sure if it's "late" though - a bit (well, a lot!) earlier would have been much preferred but there's been trial runs of this since autumn last year, well before anyone outside MS knew of SP2's impending doom.
I'm sure there will be some die-hard pro RM fans on here who will try and put some kind of positive spin on this. Looking forward to an entertaining read!
Hi Mark,
Yeah i think we may go down this route if its possible because this would make more sense really for us. Another pain is not know which hotfixes not to allocate anymore. Reading the cc3 sp3 documentation it mentions that certain hotfixes will not be needed as they are included in sp3 but does not go much into details of which are needed post sp3.
