confused - wireless

Right friday afternoon silly question time-

Can someone explain in simple terms what a managed system is please:)

Also just been reading up on Radius - how do i check if our AP's are set up using Radius.

We've currently got 3 APs on non overlapping channels, same ssid, wpa (and wpa2 on one AP) security, AP's have static IPs and are used by staff and pupils to access the domain in the same manner as the wired network. I've decided to have them switched off in the evenings and at weekends to increase security. Is there anything else I could do to increase security?

In essence a managed system is on that allows all of your access points to be set up and controlled from a central server or device.

So when you add a new one to the system you don't have to log on to the access point itself and configure it you just add it to the managed system and it's automatically configured and setup.

There should also be monitoring of your access points to make sure they stay configured correctly and also the availability, badwidth usage etc...

If my wireless isn't setup using radius is it straightforward to do retrospectively, I only have to use radius for the APs don't I not the switches?

Correct, WPA-EAP / RADIUS can be configured on the edge Access Points without any changes to the switches.
