CMIS to MRBS - my clunky solution
OK, attached you should find a zip file with my Access file and a Word file I wrote (to myself!) as I went along. I know it's not amazingly clear, but I haven't had time to update it for general consumption. I've removed a lot of the records from the "ready for import" table as there were over 60,000 and that made the file too big to upload here.
The main things I learned from my research were:
- An MRBS_entry record uses the UNIX timestamp (ie. no of seconds since 1/1/1970) to store times.
- If you are using the periods feature of MRBS, times are stored as 12:00, 12:01, 12:02 etc for that date.
- You have to allow for BST/GMT
So my database creates a unique record for each instance of a lesson (not just the lesson slot itself), adds the extra fields required by MRBS, matches the CMIS room to the MRBS room ID and converts the date and time fields exported by CMIS into a UNIX timestamp value.
Anyone is welcome to use/adapt this for their own ends, but please do share any improvements you make.
