    Quick way to logon on a whole room.

    Does anyone know a way or software package that can logon on to a whole ICT suite at the same time?

    I think AB tutor control does it. It will wake your machines up as well if they support WOL.

    NetSupport School and its OEM's (Ranger Remote Control, RM Tutor 3 and Viglen Remote Learning) all provide this ability too.

    Re: Quick way to logon on a whole room.

    You can get a whole room or even the whole school to logon by modifying the registry in a start up script as follows:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
    "DefaultDomainName"="JSCHS"
    "DefaultUserName"="sysrebuild"
    "LogonType"=dword:00000000
    "AltDefaultUserName"="sysrebuild"
    "AltDefaultDomainName"="JSCHS"
    "AutoAdminLogon"="1"
    "LeakTrack"=dword:00000000
    "DefaultPassword"="*****"

    save the text as logon.reg and include it in the machine policy start up script with a batch file with the following command:

    Regedit.exe /s logon.reg

    To reverse the process just set autoadminlogon to 0 and save the reg as logonrestore.reg and include in the batch file rather than the logon.reg file

    iTALC does do it, but it's a hefty piece of software to install for only this purpose. I'm keeping my eye on iTALC as it develops and hopefully it will do so, into a fully fleshed out and developed application.

    I'd love to see this feature in LanView, to me it seems like it has the base functionality to achieve this quite simply. I will suggest this on the MST Software forums, though Kevin probably has thought about this already.

    My (ex) school uses this. Anyone noticed it is very dodgy because if you make a mistake when entering the username or password, the software isn't good enough to recognise that an error message has appeared above the login window and completely screws up next time you try.

    download a copy of lanview from http://www.mst-software.co.uk/softwa...d=69&Itemid=47. You have to install the client on each machine, but it only takes a few seconds. Install the server on your machine and you can logoff, shutdown and restart machines. THe best thing is,m you can just shutdown machines that people are not using, thats if you dont force a shutdown.

    Re: Quick way to logon on a whole room.

    Believe me, this is something i've been trying to add into lanview for so long now.

    A couple of issues and reasons why I have not done it yet.

    1. Using sendkeys is disabled since XP SP2 - even using the keyboard interupts. (and also I'm loathed to risk this in case a mistake is made and it sendkeys the text to someone's desktop (ie, a pupils)

    2. There are no third party remote logons that I have found to be reliable enough

    3. Using the registry as shown above is something I wanted to implement is ok, but when it comes to resetting it back to normal is a big problem - so it doesn't always login.

    4. The frustrating thing is, other software does it so it must be possible.

    However - You could implement a remote execute command to do regedit \\servername\sharename\autologin.reg ect and reset it back once you are done. ummm. got me thinking now.

    Yes, CC3 does this via cybercafe functionality so is possible.

    RM have the advantage that they also use their own msgina.dll which helps them a little bit.

    Having said all that before, I think i've cracked it. I'll post back soon.

    Yes, forget my last posts.

    I have now implemented Auto login into LanView3 and will be in the next release.

    It's being tested by beta testers now and is very near completion.

    However, it will not be publicly available.
