New Version and new features in NetSupport School
Version 9 of NetSupport School is available.
Just wanted to let everyone know that in the latest version of NetSupport School we have added Print Management, Real-time Instant Messenger monitoring and device lockdown ( preventing the use of Memory Sticks or CDs), all as standard, and of course full Vista support.
We also added real-time keyboard monitoring, so as well as nice thumbnails of all student screens, if they are all using MS Word for example to undertake a project, you can see exactly what they are all typing into the document.
There is a new tour of the product and its updated features, as an example lesson which is available here
http://www.netsupportschool.com/overview.asp
A full summary of what's new in version 9 can be found here :

Hope you enjoy.
Al
NetSupport UK.

Some of those features look good will these features be appearing in Ranger Remote Control as i'm told it is just a rebadged NetSupport School?

Re: New Version and new features in NetSupport School
Yes, Ranger will be shipping NSS9 as Ranger Remote Control 9 in a few weeks when they receive their OEM build.
I recommend it to all.

Is there a new config file with NSS9 i've deployed the client to a few machines and the settings in client32.ini seem to be ignored and i've noticed a NSS.ini file that i don't remember seeing before.

Re: New Version and new features in NetSupport School
The NSS.INI is used during the Deploy to tell the MSI installer what to do, its not read or used by the client.
How are you deploying the client32.ini file? When deploying the client package if a client32.ini is present in the Deploy folder then this will be copied to the destination machine and installed at the same time.
Alternatively you can deploy out a client32.ini file on its own.

I've sorted it now thanks i forgot that the client32.ini file doesn't seem to be copied to the deploy folder by default, i install the teachers PC's from a share on the server that holds the licence file and the client32 file they are copied over to the install folder but not the deploy folder.
Thanks.

I must have something set by accident but i can't get rid of the information bar that appears when i'm viewing a client (at the top of the clients screen)this is a bit annoying as a student can tell when you are watching their screen.
Anyone know how to get rid of this?
Thanks.

Re: New Version and new features in NetSupport School
Do you mean the Student Toolbar? This is there all the time while the Tutor is connected (not just while viewing).
It can be disabled from the Tutor settings.

That is the very thing i was refering to i'd spent ages looking for that setting, as soon as you said it it appeared (well i looked in the right place). I'm still getting the hang of the software but i'm impressed so far.
Thanks very much.

I haven't really used the toolbar yet so i might get to like it once i'm familiar with the features, i see it 's easy to turn on and off so i can spy on the more naughty of the bunch.

I've noticed that RRC 9 has some .adm templates in the install directory can the client now be deployed via gpo?

Re: New Version and new features in NetSupport School
NSS is now MSI based so can be installed via AD. Not sure what the templates are as Ranger may have customised them.
We do provide templates for configuring the Tutor though.
