Wireless Networking Software
Does anybody know of any software (preferably free) that allows me easily to change my wireless IP settings. I have two settings (home and school) and want to easily flick between the two, rather than having to manually change the IP stuff every morning and evening.
Thanks

You don't use dhcp for the ip allocation?

I'm thinking that he's using a static ip address and so is having to manually enter it each day.
Proxy settings is something else to bear in mind as well.
If you right click on the network connection and select properties.
Then tcp/ip settings and then click on advanced you can add more than one ip.

Use the 'netsh' command in a batch.
something like [ and don't quote me please ]
c:\windows\system32\netsh.exe interface ip set address name="Local Area Connection" static 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.0
If you can work out the syntax, just create a batch file for each address.....
Lots of things you can do with netsh - type in netsh /? for a full list.....
Or 'netsh show helper' for a list of helper dlls....
'Oh Oh Oh, a scripters paradise....' Sorry, feel better now.

Re: Wireless Networking Software
This doesnt help but Mac OSx has this feature built in. Only issue is it doesnt work with Firefox as it has its own proxy settings. Does work perfectly with Safari though
I seem to remember belkin bundled app let's you set locations however I still think you needed to manualy change your proxy.

Re: Wireless Networking Software
Thanks for your help so far. Yeah - I remember paying about £8 for a great program that did all this a number of years ago. It had a simple pull-down menu that could be configured to say Home / School / Whatever. Can't for the life of me remember what it was.

Re: Wireless Networking Software
Net Profile Switch!
It is fantastic! You have to pay for it but it is very little and it makes like so much easier! I work on several sites and sometimes need static ip addresses so I have them all programmed in and just click and activate the one I want to use.
Easy to use, looks great, flawless! I spend donkeys looking for something that did this. I remember using a few similar free ones but they were useless and half the time didnt change the settings at all!

Re: Wireless Networking Software
Thank you starscream - looked at that, but really don't want to pay. Your site got me thinking and I found www.netsetman.com for free (looks good), so I'll try that first.
