Is there any free software that we can use to keep track of outstanding IT issues both within school and those external with our suppliers.
We use Kayako, but as @SYNACK mentioned above do a search on here for helpdesk and theres multitudes of alternatives available. Some are free others you need to pay for, some run on webservers others are windows / linux based. It's totally up to you which flavour you choose. From recent discussions spiceworks as mentioned above seems to be the most popular.
Request tracker is what We use, We have about 6 queues on atm and helps our premises/admin/ exams depts organise and keep track of all work Submitted

That request tracker looks really good. Does it integrate with AD?
