NetSupport client uses port 4505 (top of my head). To get around the NetSupport School issue, you can change the client port to 4506 or other. When the teacher console searches for clients, it'll only search those operating on port 4506.

Can I suggest instead you look into a VNC type option. There are even some open and free implementations. I find NSS to be riddled with bugs and security holes.

Hi, I'd be interested to know about any security holes that you are aware of?

VNC and its derivatives are pretty good for remote control but don't really provide the features for classroom management.

Unfortunately because it's a classroom situation I can't run this so it looks like I will have to get on to admin, I was trying to avoid this as it could take days, or weeks even to ge it sorted.
    Thanks again

El, with the later versions of NSS you can't kill the process even if you are an admin on the machine. However, there are always ways round this if you (changing service settings etc). Also, if networking is lost by removing the cable then the client should connect back to the Tutor as soon as it can. You might want to contact our support department so they can take you through the settings.

    Regards
