Ok, here's a new one on us.
If you do a yahoo image search with safe search off (which the config page isnt blocked by our LA (@eduabncs any chance?) ) it is very predictive.....
just an image search for the letter "p" or "c" or pretty much any letter manages to find hardcore p0rn....
And before you ask, it was one of the kids who told a teacher. We dont just sit there searching for random letters all day. honest
Just thought you all might like to check your filters.

ours does for google but not for yahoo. Strangley enough doing an image search for "p" or any other single letter via google doesnt get the same results.

Yeah, we are rewriting yahoo searches as well - but i'm now wondering if we should be banning single letter searches too.
There are some interesting search queries out there - "click here" being a favourite "shortcut" of mine!

How can this be prevented? The image search here seems to have no problem allowing the kids to turn off SafeSearch if they want - then it doesn't even need to be a search for a letter...

@gwendes: if your filter can rewrite urls, it can prevent the part that turns safesearch off.

Indeed, it's perfectly possible to do with Squid/etc.

Thanks Lee_K_81
Unfortunatly we use RM filtering, which as far as I can see, only awllows you to retrict URL, so we had to block the prefrence page, adn hope that none of them have chnaged it yet, if anyone knows a way to rewrite urls with RM filtering I would be very intrested

Filtering by address sucks. You really need to do content filtering these days.
