Hey Phil,
Welcome to the site! I have found this place very very useful and everyone is extremely friendly.
At my place we have full Lan Ranger and Remote Control.
what issues do you have?
Robert

You might also want to search for NetSupport problems since it is more or less the same piece of software.
BTW - welcome![]()
Welcome mate...
just out of interest, you looked at synchroneyes??? its the same sort of deal as ranger, but made but smart,
T
We use both Ranger and Ranger Remote Control. Only problem with Ranger Remote Control we have is when you create groups, and put all clients into groups, these are not saved when RRC is closed. An update just release (8.51.1) is supposed to fix this, but it doesn't seem to!
We use both. Don't have any problems.
Groups are stored in a file called group.nss in the RRC folder, check you have rights to this file. If you do then make sure this file isn't being refresh on each restart.Originally Posted by Craig_W
You can configure RRC to load its files from another location or a network share if you wish.

Phil, what sort of problems are you having? I might be able to help.Originally Posted by philpayton

Set up class lists on tutor PC which work for a while but seems to lose connection to the machines in the class as the day goes on... We've had days where we've stared with 30 machines in a room all recognised on Ranger Remote but as the day has gone on machine xx failed to connect etc... and we can end the day with as little as 10-15 machines still recognised. Have checked that the machines that won't connect are physically connected to the network, which they are. They will log onto the domain, just not being picked up by Ranger Remote.
Incidentally, no problems whatsoever with LAN Ranger...
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Phil

We use ranger with ranger remote control as well, have very few problems with it on cabled desktops, but wireless laptops are forever timing out trying to find the ranger server, therefore with an inervetable increase predicted in wireless laptops for students we are investigating alturnatives at the moment.
Ranger remote control causes us very few problems technically, it's always staff using the damn program wrong and not reading what's on the screen!! (like locking the screen on every students dekstop in the school and not realising!!)
Mike.

Have you any power management on the client machines, sometimes this can interfere with the networking.
Rob
Thanks for that, hopefully I will get chance to investigate this today a little bit. I will let you know of any findings (if anyone's interested)
Thanks again
Phil
We use ranger but not the remote control element. It's a great product IMO
Impressed with the product itself. I hope we manage to sort out our problems using it. I'm wondering whether it might be worth removing it and re-installing it on the server and redeploying it to all the clients?
If you have a ranger support contract or have bought less than 12months ago call sentinal their support tends to be realy good.
