    Cacti network analysis

    Just wondering if anyone has this (http://www.cacti.net/) setup and working? was looking at it the other day and wondered what people think? any alternatives people are using?

    Yes. It's a brilliant tool for tracking trends and wierdness. It's also great for identifying bottlenecks / needs and showing how investment in $foo has improved $bar by "X" with pretty SMT-friendly graphs to prove it. I use it a lot for before/after performance and resource use graphing when moving physical servers to virtual instances.

    In short - it can be an arse to set up, but once you've got it running you'll wonder why you didn't do it years ago.

    We also got one box running with cacti + SPINE + several plugins... awesome free tool to monitor anything snmp based

    bio..
