Hey Guys
We currently use italc and are thinking of changing too LanSchool we so far a very impressed by the demo version compared to others which we have tried.
Does anyone here use LanSchool? Have you had good experiences with it or is it a bit of a nightmare. Thanks![]()
We use it in 5 different classrooms/suites.
Absolutely superb, and its that easy to use I haven't had to train any staff on it! If they get stuck I always point them to the training video's anyhow.

I'd also check abtutor. We have also used lanschool previously but prefer abtutor..

We use lanschool on 400 computers. Works a treat. Its dead easy to push out by group policy. I would say go for it.
The support guys are good as well. I sent an e-mail asking a quick question 5 mins later why phone was ringing. Another time i e-mailed a suggestion to them. They phoned me about it within an hour.

Thanks for the replys, Im pretty much all for it, its good to know the teaching staff find it easy as we all know what their like![]()

Hi Mate,
Can we grab a copy of the guide also please?

We use it on all of our curriculum machines and give teachers in deparments with computers the relevant channels.
I have access to all the channels and therefore I can see all the computers and I've caught quite a few things going on!
Very good bit of software, highly recommended. Support for Windows 7 is good, too.

Also use LanSchool here, currently 7.3 but will update it soon I think.
Works well on almost 500 machines that we have and slowly training teachers on a 1 to 1 basis on using it. The best bit is for roaming laptops you can build student lists so it doesn't matter what machine the student logs into they will still appear in your console - that works well in our flexible learning spaces.
Mike.
I played with iTalc a year or so ago. If I remember rightly it wasn't being actively updated (or I couldn't find signs of life) and it barely supported Vista let alon Win7. I think that was the reason I skipped it and moved to one of the paid for options. I don't suppose the situation as changed any with iTalc updates?

From what I've read about iTalc the guy who did it lost interested and there hasn't been any updates for nearly 2 years! We found it good to use to a certain point but its very buggy.
We've gone ahead and ordered LanSchool and really looking forward to getting it and running!

I'm wanting to use it at a pupil referal centre. They have about 40 machines spread out over a couple of rooms so a paid for option is abit of an overkill for this scenario. I'm hoping iTalc will do the job and if it's buggy they may have to put up with it. I'm wanting to roll out a similar things in my other schools ( primary ) not so much for the monitoring part but for the ability to share the teacher desktop with the students and things like that. I think we may go down a paid for option then though as it will be used on a much larger scale.
Any issues with Vlans or does nobody here use them?
