Some workstations slow to network and user

We have a Windows 2003 R2 server fully critical patched up to date and XP Pro SP3 workstations - again patched up to date. Recently I have noticed that some workstations are taking longer to load network settings and then to log users on; in particular a workstation that has SyncronEyes on it.

DNS seems OK and as said patches are up to date. the workstations have 500GB hard drives and only a small portion of that has been used. Profiles are local and not too many held locally. Any suggestions what to look at next please?
