    Softlink Alice

Any one had any expericence with this program?

we need to import and update all the student data onto it, but never seems to work correclly.

Been using a cvs file to import it, which I believe everything is in the correct place for it

Our Librarian uses Alice. However I am not familiar with the way that it works. I am only called upon when it is not working [which is not that often these days: It has settled down quite nicely after a fairly turbulent couple of years]

Their Helpdesk is usually helpful enough: When I last called them the talked me through the solution to the problem I had logged [No remote logon and apply the solution]

Get the auto Upload Module from Softlink (about £75 per year). Loads your data automatically from SIMS (Providing that your Alice system can see the SIMS server). Puts all your borrower records into correct year groups, imports new borrowers, migrates classes etc and saves all the hassle of messing about with CSV imports etc.

Used to have all the messing about each year with year roll over importing borrowers etc now nothing.

Only thing librarian may have to do is alter borrower barcodes if you choose not to use the autogenerated ones used for new borrowers by the update module.

    Money well spent.
