Hi
I am trying to finish a rollout of XP SP2 via GP on our windows 2003 server.
The update was supplied by the LEA and is deployed via GP.
Now, most computers have accepted the update fine but a few haven't!
The install appears to be going fine but when it has finished the system info shows SP1 still installed. The system log shows the update as completing correctly.
All the desktop systems involved were built from a common image, but a couple of laptops have done the same thing.
Anybody got any ideas what could be going wrong?

16th September 2008, 10:22 AM #2 Service Pack 2?!?!
I know there's being cautious but isn't that a bit OTT?
Personally I've never used group policy to do service packs, I totally wimped out and did it bit by bit manually.
Have you tried seeing if any of the sp2 features work on the problem machines (i think the IE pop-up blocker was part of it?)

16th September 2008, 10:33 AM #3 Like Domino, I rolled this out manually some time ago. It was much more clear what, if anything, was going wrong.
I can't remember any huge difficulties doing it this way.
I wuld try installing SP2 manually on at least one of the machines and see if you get anything that might indicate why the GP version hasn't worked.
