    Impero iPad app update

    Good morning all,

    In the grand scheme of things were new to Impero and today I've been having a few teachers come to me with their issued iPads saying that the app has updated and will no longer allow them to connect to the server (confirmed this myself on our testing iPad as well).

    Now the grand questions are-
    1. If I update the server will the client on the PCs die (being an older version than the server although bearing in mind I'll update it over the next day or so)?
    2. Is there a RSS feed/email alert/some other uberness that can tell me when a newer version is out there?

    Generally you'd have your impero server set up to automatically update the clients. We did our server in the morning and by lunchtime all the clients were updated.

    Ahh now here is the interesting thing - under Licence on the Impero server it says our latest Server version allowed is 4.0.13 (same for the client) although our contract expires on 23/07/14 - time for a call me thinks!

    Yeah we usually find out there's an upgrade by accident and call them for an update, they're awesome like that, but like you I think it'd be nice for an email or something

    This would be nice... especially as I had a support ticket open for a fault that was resolved by 4.0.22... but I only got hold of it a week or two ago... despite it being out in November!

    Quite why I can't just log onto the server, hit check for updates and it says I can get a new version to download if I want to is beyond me - arguably my only major gripe with it.

    I'm still waiting for a bug to be fixed in v4 since September so I can export the printed documents reports... The update in November didn't resolve it (but I do agree that it would be nice to get a message saying there is an update available instead of having to find it by accident then phone up to get it released)

    its ok Russ, I spoke with Support earlier this month and they confirmed it was still in the pending pot and we updated to 4.0.22 just in case it was an undocumented fix (which is wasn't unfortunately) The bug ID 1727.

    We love Impero, however like synaesthesia we only found out about 4.022 by accident and had to request it, and agree their communication could be better.
