Default Internet Filtering

I know that this will have been discussed elsewhere however i tried to search the forums and had no luck.

i am running a server 2003 domain with xp clients and all i want to do is centrally block websites so that no users on any machines (except for techers) can get to them.

Please post an asnwer even though i know i am repeating others questions.

Cheers
Matt

A filtering proxy server would do, such as IPCop with AdvProxy and URLFilter addons. No cost at all for the software - just install onto a mid-spec box, configure as a gateway between your internet and the LAN, and away you go.

is it possable to use group policy (or anything else windows based)i like to stay away from third party software if possable, it just causes problems getting it authorised by my bosses.

Surely if you've been tasked with doing this and you present a solution in the form of a filtering proxy then your "bosses" should be happy?

When you say block websites do you want to prevent all students from accessing all websites or just specific ones?

Ben

Oh well, in that case I think the boss will just have to accept that not everything can be done via Group Policy.

If you want a windows based solution, your only option is ISA Server.
