Live network map, has anyone seen one?

I didn't know where to post this so I just threw it up in general chat...

I recently visited a near by school and they just received a $3,000,000.00 technology overhaul in the whole school. Needless to say their tech office has a 12 monitor monster computer and one of the monitors on the computer has a Live Network Map. Essentially it's one of those fancy maps with the pretty pictures of the computers, switches and servers but it's actively showing that it running. And I want one. I know I can get a network map from a server but I'm talking about a massive network map that covers all of the school buildings (5 buildings in total) in the district. It would be something like 500 desktop computers, 400 laptops, 12 servers, a bunch of switches. And everything or at least the servers and switches have a live ping always running and when say something is off/down/ or can't connect it shows it in the map. Check out the links below for somethings that i'm looking for.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

solarwinds do some very nice tools. some are paid for but some of the free ones are very handy, think some of those do ping monitoring.

Download Free Network Management & Free Network Monitoring Software from SolarWinds

It allows you to monitor any IP address (and any services on that device, such as HTTP, TCP, SMTP, FTP, etc, or you can write your own custom test) and then report visually, audibly and/or via email. I have created multiple maps of our site - from an overview screen down to individual classrooms and buildings - with pictures of each device. I get full stats in terms of availability and uptime, service response times, full SNMP data, together with a status indication - e.g. green for all OK, amber for something wrong, red for fully down. PM me if you'd like my document on how it all works and how to set it up. It doesn't take too long to do and it's totally free. There's also an iOS app so you can keep track of your network anywhere from your iPhone or iPad.

Spiceworks has a network map, but Nagvis would be the best imo.
