    Ranger 5 upgrade

Hi everyone, I am trying to upgrade ranger 5 to the latest version 5.7....
It installed OK on DC1 but it's giving me grief on DC02- one of the guys at Ranger support suggested to run the "Extend" option from the ranger CD to upgrade DC02. Then a day after one of them said that the upgrade of the second DC (DC02) would happen automatically by replication from DC0-1 and I shouldn't upgarde it using the CD.

Now I am having problems with DC02 which doesn't seem to stat Ranger services, and this is after a remove and another install.

ANy help and suggestion are welcome and thanks in advance.

    Re: Ranger 5 upgrade

Your workstations know about DC1 and DC2 so if DC1 is ok then just remove the Ranger software completely from DC2. The clients can still log in from DC1

Once it has gone, do an 'extend' install of Ranger to put it back on from scratch. Once this is complete, both DC1 and DC2 will be available for clients.

    Re: Ranger 5 upgrade

Thanks for your reply- I have been extending ranger onto DC02 but I had no luck, one extended LAN ranger starts but not ranger license or netwok services would start. Plus when I ran ECM from DC01 it tries to start ranger services on DC02 but they don't start and it just hangs.

I wonder if I re-install the previous version I had running onto DC02 it would make any difference?

    Re: Ranger 5 upgrade

Run the ECM on DC1 and ensure DC2 is removed.

Remove ALL traces of Ranger from DC2, i mean everything you can find including

    ranger
    program folders left
    replication tools
    reporter

literally everything so its just DC1 on its own. Reboot DC1 so it doesn't know anything about DC2 (from Ranger's point of view).

Then do a new 'extend' to DC2 just as if it were a new server.

    Re: Ranger 5 upgrade

I have given it a go and ranger extend is still failing; it installs ranger on DC02 and when it gets to starting "file change monitor" service it hangs. I stop the install through ctrl, alt and delete end task and restart the server. It creates all ranger sortcuts on the task bar but no sign of ranger in windows services (control Panel then services).

I suggested to Ranger to send me another ranger CD in case the one I am using is corrupt.

    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks
