Tree or Server Not Found Wireless via Ruckus
Hello,
Getting this on some of our laptops. The SLP is set to the IP's of the netware servers and the latest wireless drivers installed yet we still get tree or server not found a fair bit. Windows 7, Intel 3945ABG Wireless and IR4 Novell client.
Any ideas apart from removing novell?
. It will be dieing a death by september but until then we have to work through the problems

29th November 2010, 11:46 AM #2 Hi,
we have actually come off of Novell now but we had the same error "Tree or server not found" at the login box but only on all the wireless clients. The issue was the Wireless does kick in until someone logis in so we had to use the "Workstation Only" option to login then users used the "Novell Login" to access there accounts, however this is a huge P.I.A.
We have the same problem now we have gone onto Windows, although we are still on XP we have to login locally to the wireless clients and then users can login to the server and access home directories that way which is a HUGE security risk.
Right now I dont have a suggestion but bare with it and try and come up with a solution to being on wireless, although it's great for using in large campuses its a nightmare when it comes to Admin.
We are currently trying to do away with our wireless infrastructure for the moment until we can figure out what we are going to do.

You can set to start WiFi @ pre-logon with the Intel software - that might be all it is.

Have you got the latest SLP patches installed? With the Windows 7 move towards OpenSLP, you will need to make certain that the patches are in place, or point it at an OES Linux box.

18th December 2010, 10:36 AM #5 We had all the patches on our network, but unfortunately for some reason we had Samsung laptops and the Windows wireless controller wouldn't work - all we got was "no wireless networks could be found", if we used the software that came with the manufacturer of the card it was bang on it just didn't work at Logon.
all our laptops are sat in the store room (where they belong in my opinion).
We'll figure something someday.
