Morning all!
If you have a Samsung Galaxy S, you may be interested to know that there is a ROM available on XDA for Jelly Bean.
I installed this last night and all seems nice and stable at the mo.
Give me a shout if you need any help/directions etc!

fragmentation really is going to kill android if they arnt carefull of my 3 devices no 2 run the same .x version and only one even has ics nevermind jellybean
The whole point of Android is to server the community.
Phones are released...and very rarely do the providers/manufacturers want to push out the updated software as this could stop people buying a new phone. However, with such a thriving community, it's not long before a build or port gets pushed out. This is the beauty of Android over some other OS (in MY view).
I'm guessing a stock Galaxy is still back on Gingerbread....but, with a little knowledge and the help of a good community, I can forge ahead into the next builds without needing to upgrade a phone that is only 12 months old, and 9 months away from an upgrade point.
Fragmentation won't kill Android (imo).... I think it is a very strong model.
I think that Google will have to build an OS model more similar to Windows (IE better hardware abstraction) for Android to keep going on at this pace. Otherwise people will get annoyed at the lack of 'updates' for their phones.
People like updates even if it only gives them different colour buttons!
I've been running the Jelly Bean ROM on my Nexus S since last week and it is surprisingly stable. Top tip is to disable the stupid 'Temporaily disable poor wifi connections' because it breaks your wifi.
Google Now is frikkin awesome though :D
BTW - Nexus S download link is [ROM] Jelly Bean SDK JRN83C port for GSM Nexus S - xda-developers
I've been using Jelly Bean for the last 2 weeks now on my Galaxy Nexus, since the first ROM was available on XDA, now i've upgraded it to 4.1.1, I think it's awesome, Google now seems good, I can't wait for the footy season to start to see if it updates me about my footy team like google say it will.
One thing i've noticed is that I keep getting random notifications telling me where the traffic is over a 5 minute delay. Yesterday I got one telling me it was over a 5 minute delay to the TSB in Manchester, thing is I don't want to go to the TSB in Manchester, I just wanted to go to work.
this is supposedly coming to the S3 in Q4 2012 - there is far to much not supported at the moment for me to but it on myself!!
Version 6 is out, and is the most stable (in my opinion!)
Here's the thread, if anyone wants to give it a go....
[ROM][PORT][ANDROID 4.1] TAJB: Jelly Bean port for Galaxy S V6 [BETA] - xda-developers
[ROM] Helly_Bean [4.1.1], based on sources of cm10, 08/03 - xda-developers
***UPDATE***
This is the thread that seems to have the most stable build. I have to say that JB has improved the SGS by quite a lot. Super smooth and a lot of fun to use, thanks to Google Now.
