I'd be looking at the HTC Touch Pro 2, if you can stump for £430. If not, the HTC Touch Diamond 2 is £330.
Depends on applications required but the HTC Touch Pro is a nice phone.

the HCT touch Pro 2 definitely, the battery life on the diamond is not really good enough. still a nice phone thogh.

iPhone is wayyyyyy overrated, save your money.
Go for a HTC - I love my TouchHD personally, but quite expensive without a contract. Go for the Touch Pro2 or Diamond2. Samsung Omnia HD is good to.
Should say this has to be on pay as you go..

A Palm Pre, as soon as it's launched.
Failing that, an unlocked Treo 650/680 and a PAYG SIM from somebody.
PayG sims are pretty much free. So, all the phones that've been listed so far can be bought new, unlocked. The HTC's I quoted were Catalist pricing from Insight.Quote:

No way am I an Apple fan boy - but I have tried most of the latest smartphones and I bought the iPhone. IMHO nothing can touch it. I still can't quite believe I own a piece of tech with an apple on it :eek: but if you get one I don't think you'll be disappointed. Do what I did and get round the shops/friends/colleagues trying them all first. Most people who slag the iPhone haven't got one or probably even touched one! :p
