You might get tighter integration from Google Apps Drive though as it is from the same provider.

2nd August 2012, 04:55 PM #3 OK - lets try another tact - anyone got a PAYG Android with a proxy setting available in the wifi settings?
(as at least I know it stands a chance of working as opposed to none
)

Yes
I've got that one.
I'm looking for PAYG models that will work through a proxy to use as smart cameras
The cheapest ICS Phone AFAICT is the Desire C which carphone warehouse are doing for £110 but I'm trying to see if I can get a £70 model that runs gingerbread with a proxy setting facility (my experience in the past was that some 2.3 models did have it and some didn't)
If anyone knows of a sub £100 model that has a CyanogenMod with proxy setting then that would do as well

For years (OK 2 then) I thought of maybe doing that when it seemed that Mr Google couldn't spull poxy but its a real sledgehammer for the few nuts involved
(And then Mr Google finally got around to doing it with ICS)

2nd August 2012, 09:20 PM #7 Orange San Francisco with Cyanogen 7. Proxy settings on Wifi on Gingerbread. ICS possible at glacial speeds too.

2nd August 2012, 10:01 PM #8 @Geoff AFAIK its not available in shops (at least not Chorley
) anymore
It was the one I was going to get last year when I first muted the idea to my schools

2nd August 2012, 11:52 PM #9 Then your best bet is probably one of the HTC Desire or Wildfire variants?

3rd August 2012, 12:10 AM #10 I've got permission to bet once e.g buy one for testing and if works buy 4 more
Problem will be if 1st one doesn't work - it'll be useless (and my tech rep down in the mud
)
I'm pretty much certain that a £110 Desire C will work (as it has ICS) but I know that Gingerbread proxy support was patchy and varied from model to model.
I like to save my schools money wherever possible.

Don't think it had proxy support unless you rooted and installed an tranparrent proxy app. (I did when I had the DHD)

3rd August 2012, 09:01 AM #12 No problems here with the S3, when entering the wireless key you can go to show advanced options enter proxy settings and off you go.

3rd August 2012, 09:30 AM #13 I know its not what you are after directly but if you are just using it as a camera anyway:
Nokia Lumia 710 from £99.95 on Pay as you go | The Carphone Warehouse
These support proxys and proxy auth over wireless and can automaticly push photos to a skydrive camera roll, share to facebok, skydrive, twitter and there is a drop box app.
Not as customisable but you can probably pick them up quite cheaply, if not now in a short while when W8 comes out and they are left behind. They have 802.11n and GPS too so you're pretty sorted for connectivity. They have 5MP cameras and decent CPUs for the cost too. Somewhere may be able to furnish you with the HTC Motzart cheaper which still has 8GB but more RAM and an 8MP camera along with a real flash.
