    Cracked screen!

We've had iPads in school since Christmas, and last week suffered our first accident - one of the ipads was dropped on its corner resulting in a crack right across the screen. Apple won't cover it under Applecare and say we need to buy a new one. i know that there are some companies that claim to be able to fix screens - just wondered if anyone has ever tried one and what the outcome was?

Also if anyone can recommend a protective case for primary school children to use please. We have smart covers and one set of iBallz at the moment - smart covers are pretty useless for protection and iBallz can be a bit distracting, although probably would have saved the screen in this case.

I've just had my iPhone 4S screen replaced by rottenapples.com

Very fast turn around, there and back in 2 working days. The screen was all but destroyed (run over by a few cars and bicycles). The returned phone was as good as new, looked like the day I first got the phone. Can't sing their praises enough.

I checked that out thinking you may have meant .co.uk until I noticed the banner at the top stating it was a demo store got me concerned.

That's interesting. Definately the right store. Like I say two days and it was back good as new. Can't praise them enough, especially having seem the quality of the end result.

If you mean the glass + digitizer you can pick it up for ~£30 on Amazon. Fixed one of ours on Friday not too difficult. Were a primary also and the cases we use are the trust hard cases which is just a piece of plastic covering the bottom and the ipad was dropped on the speaker on a desk corner - so avoiding the only part of the ipad not protected by the case. I think with any case solution you won't get total protection (a teacher will find a way to break it).
