    Proxy Exceptions on iPad 3

    Hi,
    Can someone please tell me where I find the setting to add proxy exceptions on the ipad 3.
    We need to be able to access the internal exchange server (not through a proxy) but all internet traffic needs to go through a proxy (no authentication needed).
    I do not want to use a PAC.
    Thanks

    Two choices:

    - use a PAC
    - have a proxy that can handle the exceptions.

    The IPad doesn't yet have an exceptions option. Why won't you use a PAC? They are easy to write.

    I have tried a PAC but does not work.
    Don't know if its the PAC or the location? Can you just put it on a server share? i.e. \\SERVER\PROXY\PROXY.PAC
    The PAC is: -
    function FindProxyForURL(url, host)
    {
    if (isInNet(myIpAddress(), "172.***.***.***", "255.255.0.0"))
    return "PROXY 192.***.***.***:8080";
    else
    return "DIRECT";
    }

    I think it needs to be on a web server, not a server share.

    No.

    It needs to be on a web server. The webserver needs to have the correct mime type for what you're doing defined too.

    If you're not using WPAD and just pointing directly to a PAC file, configure the MIME type application/x-ns-proxy-autoconfig for the .pac extension. If you're using WPAD configure the MIME type application/x-ns-proxy-autoconfig for the .dat extension.

    I managed it recently. You need to host the PAC file in IIS on Windows Server (for example). If you read all the messages in the link FN-GM posted, I've described pretty much step by step how I went about it.

    To my knowledge the same rules apply for iPad 1, 2 and 3.

    Why not create a iPad section in the forum? there is demand for it.

    There isn't demand for them and so they can go in this forum which can be renamed slightly to "Other Netbooks, PDA and Phones" but there is demand for iPad. In the last few months that I have been a member, daily there will be a new thread to do with iPads created in the Mac forum.
