Mitel Call Accounting Issues
Hi All,
There doesn't appear to be much posted about IP telephony in here but might be worth a shot so here we go...
I have been tasked with finding some call accounting software for a school that I support. The solution they have is a Mitel 3300MXe with 3 5550 consoles for the main office and the majority of the 100+ handsets being 5304s. When a caller calls the school they first hit the Auto Attendant which presents them with 3 options. Press 1 to report absence, press 2 for Finance or hold for all other calls. When they hold the reception consoles then ring.
I've browsed the web a bit and found MiStats which should interpret the SMDR logs and allow reporting etc. I installed MiStats trial and connected to the 3300 and after changing some SMDR options I'm now getting calls reported...great.
After allowing calls to record for a while I found that rather than reporting the receptionists extns 1000,1001,1002 I'm seeing Att1, Att2, Att3 which in itself isn't a big issue. Secondly I noticed it will not report incoming or outgoing calls, which really is the point of the school asking for call accounting software.
I have called my mobile from a handset in school and have also called in to the main reception from my mobile and nothing is registered.
I have been in contact with MiStats support who checked my SMDR setup, confirmed they thought it looked right then said they didn't know and to contact Mitel directly. This isn't really an option as the school don't want to pay for Mitel to take a look, and I would have hoped the developers may have known why their SW wasn't working.
My question is 2 fold really. Has anyone seen the behaviour described above before and have any ideas about it?
Or does anyone know of other software that would be worth a go? Please bear in mind this is a school in the north of England so capital is at a bare minimum.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated as the school are on my back about this now. If you need any more info please let me know and I'll get back to you.
Cheers,
C

20th April 2012, 04:46 PM #2 Hi,
We have the same setup as you but no MiStats. We are looking to add this over summer but this will be carried out by the original installers. Can you not refer back to your original installers or maintenance people?

Came as part of the system, so can't say how much it cost.

Take a look at ReportX from Oak Telecom. We use this with our Mitel mainly for internal call billing but it can also be used to report on what you are after and we use it for that too.
Have used Oak for 13 years now on 3 different phone systems.
Many thanks
Stuart
