android 3.1(might be 3.2) (and my phone which is 2.3.somet) do allow proxys. on the tablet you can set a proxy per wifi network on my phone its just a proxy then on or off. I cant off hand remember how to do proxy on a tab but i can find out when i go home
We have just taken delivery of three Android tablets (ViewSonic 7e) this afternoon, and I am struggling to get them to access the Internet via a proxy - and so far I am led to believe it may not be possible (at least with certain versions of Android) to use a proxy server. Unless anyone knows better?

The AT100 definitely has a proxy setting.
You may also need a firewall config to allow non-http standard ports for market etc.

Android 3.1 does include support for proxies, but I think proxy authentication is still an issue going by the comments on the three year old Issue 1273 thread on Google's bug tracker.
Platform Highlights
Users can now configure an HTTP proxy for each individual Wi-Fi access point, by touch-hold of the access point in Settings. The browser uses the HTTP proxy when communicating with the network over the access point and other apps may also choose to do so. The platform also provides backup and restore of the user-defined IP and proxy settings. (Source)

Use the autoproxy app, youll need to root or break your tablet first but works lovely and uses NTLM authentification as well.

works on my tablet out through leeds learning (synetrix) and my phone though some apps dont i believe (probably depends how well coded they are) browser does

you have to root the tablet but you can use an app called ProxyDroid.
I got it to connect a Android 2.1 tablet to our proxy.
Well we are arranging Toshiba to come and demo the tablets along with their management facilities for apps so getting on the net will be the first job, if it cant then it will a short demo and home earlyif they can through our network then all well and good.
We had Toshiba come in to do this they didn't seem to know much about the tablet itself but more about Google apps like Google Skymaps with saying "it's really good you can view the stars", when we asked about proxy he said he had no idea about it and that he could ask tech support, but never came back to us. In regards to the proxy from Android 2.3 you are able to add a proxy in, but you are not able to login if your proxy requires a login. Also if you are looking into getting android tablets we have just bought the Archos G9 101 8GB tablets for £185 per device if you wanted to get a demo unit you can contact Mary Budden budden@archos.com just say that Justin Byrne recommend her to you. The Toshiba's were good machines but these beat them hands down for us.
