I think the best way to decide is to look at what apps you want to run. Some apps might not be available for Android devices (and vice versa), while other apps such as iMovie and GarageBand are simply better on the iPad.

This blog post by Fraser Speirs may give you some ideas...

Not many apps, to be honest - just your basic music players, news readers, casual games (e.g. Bejeweled, Tetris, card and puzzle games), Spotify (free, not Premium). Photo editing is one of the things holding me to my PC at the moment, and I'm guessing iPad is more likely to see a decent PhotoShop clone than Android.

Also, Android apps appear to be focussing on Android mobiles and not thinking about the 10" tablet user, whereas IOS apps are being written with iPads in mind.

I would not get the i-pad as I hate to be too locked into a single company, even if that product was great.

Main thing I will be looking for on my next purchase is HDMI out. That way I can also use it as a media server for the large tv/stereo.

Yeh I thought that but to be honest the apple ecosystem is class leading.

Ipad 2 does HDMI out no problem, you just need an HDMI adapter cable that they sell. It works really well as does the vga.

unless the app blocks the use of the external screen ie sky sports i believe

as to cloud vd local storage would having a nas box at home be a compramise shove archive stuff that you dont need away from home (at least without notice) there and keep your current files on the tab

Yes, local NAS box would be an option; Mrs Enjay's computer is an easier option though!!

Does it still not work under iOS5 where you simply mirror your desktop?

I've never had a problem mirroring the desktop but reading the reviews on the hdmi cable, itunes blocks it.

Never tried it myself, I use AVPlayer and that works well

How easily could I connect an SD card to an iPad, so I could copy music onto my phone?
