    Good Apps For Android?????

    Morning people,

I got my first Android phone, the new S2 so i just wanted to see if there are any cracking apps out there. I only got it last night and not really had much chance to have a play.

I've always been a Blackberry man so it's quite a change!

    Any advice is appreciated!

    Cheers

    Luke

    gps status (can be useful)

if you have a windows media centre remote media allows you to set recordings from your phone (can be set to work via internet but ive just never been bothered enough to do it)

CPU Tuner - lets you overclock your phone (if it's rooted yet ). I use this to have my phone running as fast as possible until it's battery is down to about 20%, then it reels the power back in a bit to preserve battery

    Dropbox - well, it's dropbox!

TitaniumBackup - excellent for backing up all your apps (again, only if you're rooted)

Rom Manager - for easily trying out different ROMs (another root app)

Another one I'm finding really handy when I'm bored or just want to geek up on something is the "How Stuff Works" app

No mention of zdbox? App killer, do not disturb, uninstaller, move to sd card - replaces about 4 other apps.

Also LBE security - tells you what apps are accessing the network / contacts / gps etc, allow & deny as you wish.

Google reader, twitter client, guardian anywhere good for reading material.

Oooh can't NOT have these two, they should be built in to Android: SDWatch (notifies you when you install/update an app that can be moved to the SD card and links you through to the page to do it) and SDMove (Gives a list of all your apps and colour codes them based on SD preferences, with an option to bulk move all possible to SD)

Apps I actually use a lot of the time
    Handcent for texting
Swype (pain in neck to install but I believe its inbuilt to Galaxys?)
    Shazam
    Tweetdeck for Twitter reading
Google Sky (I've got a big telescope so this is a must have )
I toggle between Calendar Touch (Best interface but doesn't cope with > 1 screen of diary events ) and Calendar Pad as my calendar apps
+Calendar Snooze to actuall remind me to do things
    Dropbox and Dropsync
    Angry Birds of course
    PhotoAF for panoramic shots
Camera360 if wanting to shoot a nice pic use HDR mode
Spotify (if you have a paid account)
Rockplayer (to play back xvid/divx videos)
UPnPlay as my DLNA client (to watch geek progs in bed without disturbing wife's Big Brother )
Battery Graph to see what flattened the battery unexpectly
And of course - wi-fi analyser to see which AP has been switch off

The main thing is to root your phone and then you can install Tasker and Samba Filesharing and ... Torch!

    Si
PS and my own app to monitor speed while driving

    two must have apps

3G Watchdog (already mentioned but I will say it anyway)
Juicedefender - this manages your battery use - on my phone it doubles my battery life

    also
c:geo - geocaching app - go out into the countryside with your new phone and use million dollar satellites to find Tupperware hidden in the woods.
