I think Samsung have lost the plot slightly... only last week they announced a 7" tablet for those people that think the 10.1" is too big... then they have 3.odd up to 4.3" phones. I guess the Note just fills the gap between 4.3" and 7".
Maybe they should just have one device and you specify the screen size when you buy it?

"Hello! I am on the Samsung Galaxy Note! No its rubbish!"

@sparkeh: I think that illustrates the point nicely. I can sort of see the point in a 7" tablet... you can stick it in your back pocket but it is still big enough to read. The Note just strikes me as too big to be a phone and too small to be a tablet. I do like the stylus though.

I don't think the tablet would last long after I've sat on ityou can stick it in your back pocket
That's the problem - portability vs readability/usabilitly - it needs to fit in a top pocketmaybe the Sensation/G2S size is the best - I'll need to try one out - all I know is that a Desire screen isnt good enough as a web/vnc/logmein device and I want to stop having to dig out a netbook/computer.
Maybe the Sony clamshell pad will be the one?

I like the concept, just want it in a slightly smaller form factor like the new HTC Titan but with a high resolution screen like the one on the Note. That way it fills the whole phone and tablet function all at once.
But will Apples lawyers let it get to market?
Is it just me that thinks it's a sad day when companies try to succeed not through technical excellence but through patent lawsuits?
I've seen a price of $1000 or 715 euros mentioned. Not the cheapest of devices.

I can't wait for it. I wanted a Dell Streak, but they were impossible to get on 12 month contracts without buying one outright for £500. This is the optimum screen size for me.
Yeah, these are really no different size-wise to the Dell Streak. I have a Streak and wouldn't trade for any other screen size. People say it looks huge, but I've yet to find a trouser pocket it doesn't fit fine in, and if you're like me and use your phone more for Internet/texting than as a phone, it's brilliant. I frequently get asked about it when pull it out in public - most commonly "Is that an iPad?", after which I am met with utter surprise when I tell them something that nice looking is made by Dell.
I also have the car kit and Google Navigation is fantastic on a screen that size.
I do think the Streak's landscape-by-default interface looks nicer than the layout on the Note shown above, but I won't turn down a newer version of Android and a company that actually knows how to support it properly. Price does need to come down though, the rumours of what they will be asking is ridiculous.

Thats why I'm liking itIts Huge
That and the stylus for accurate RDP/VNC clicking
Even @john might be tempted down the android route with one of these
