22nd August 2011, 12:47 PM #1 $99 hp Touchpads
Anyone picked up a Touchpad now they are fireselling them, they were $99 in the US and are being discounted in other markets to. It looks like NZs turn at the discount is tomorrow and I am considering getting one.
It looks like people are already working on an Android port and some people have already had Ubuntu running on them.

22nd August 2011, 12:57 PM #2 I have reserved a 32GB TouchPad at my local Argos. If the rumours are true, it should be dropping in price to £115 this afternoon. The 16GB model should be £89.
Looking forward to running Android on it.

22nd August 2011, 01:22 PM #3 It's a shame really. If W8 was available for it they'd rock. I got to play with some View Sonic W7 tablets in Philly, and they were blazingly fast. It's a pity the W7 touch components are so poor compared to dedicated touch OS's. Very strange for Microsoft that for once they are developing for a hardware platform that is already up to speed for the system being developed for it.
Reading several columns on the HP sell off many commentators remarked that HP wanted to be as cool as Apple. Unfortunately you simply can't do it if the software isn't available. Neither WebOS or W7 come close to iOS (and I don't even like iPads!).

22nd August 2011, 01:35 PM #4 Yea, I'd really like a Windows 8 device but I'm sick of waiting and if these are as cheap as promised they should be a good interum toy.

The price on argos's site is still high. Does it run droid well?
