I think its time to upgrade my phone. I'm using a Nokia E71 that ive had since late 09, its served me well, but I believe its time for an upgrade. The best thing I like about this Nokia is I can charge it on a Sunday night, and not have to charge it again till Friday morning. I don't think any of the new phones can do that, but I guess the new ones all have USB charging (i think?) so shouldn't be a problem.
The only feature requirements I have are it must have:
slingplayer app
putty or equiv
exchange sync for calendar and emails
pop email accounts
to be able to play games
usb charging
camera that actually has viewable photos
features that would be good:
be able to copy .avi files onto it and just watch them without transcoding
oh, and the biggest requirement, that it not be an iphone.
does such a phone exist?
Hit me up with some suggestions... budget is probably about $500AU.

19th June 2011, 03:27 PM #5 What sort of quality you looking for? I mean most phones can do what you listed, but may only have a 2-3inch screen. Is that an issue?
Does it need to be 10mp etc, or can it be 3-7? Still viewable photos as such :P
Same with your battery life, standy time most last, but usage varies?
Take even the basic wildfire (HTC), 5mp cam, 480hours (Standby GSM) etc

I'm loathed to say this but best experience is the Iphone. The androids offer some neat capabilities (Free Turn by Turn GPS is nice) but it's just not as slick as an I phone. I've got the first iphone (4gb). It can automatically switch between wifis and set the proxy correctly. Also I can see the iphones screen in direct sunlight something my android phone won't do!

what is your phone as Android comes on lots of different hardware.
I have 2 Androids and the Desire HD has a lovely screen.
All my friends that did have I-phones ( bar 1 ) have moved to Android and all prefer it. I like the fact I can choose to either have an icon on the screen that opens the app or have the app open and running in widget mode. I can view all websites with flash. If you get a HTC it comes with its own slick turn by turn navigation. I can upgrade the memory. I can change the battery. I could go on and on.
Never having owned an I-Phone I would like to know what can the I-phone do that Android cant?

Gotta Samsung Galaxy S....Can see the screen very well in that, thanks!
OP should go for Android....something by HTC/Samsung will be fine. Really, it's a case of seeing what's available to your budget, then deciding which is the best spec for what you want.
(My bro....proper iPhone fanboi....has just swapped to HTC Sensation....and it IS Sensational!!!)
