    Ipad doesn't do Java either.

I've been playing with an IPad and found it doesn't seem to work with Java (as well as not working with Flash) or have I missed something?

    "For teachers, it's the future!"

If the future is teaching via iTunes content, then we'd better mortgage the school site.

Or we could just stick to screens bigger than an exercise book.

What do you expect from a pretty box of crayons, its is just a tool to give apple money and broaden their revenue chain. Any benifit the user may get is incidental.

Well, I can use it to post on edugeek how useless it is for web browsing
It's got a nice stop motion capture app and a simple video editor but I'm going to need some office type app as well

People actually like Java? I don't get why anyone would want this exploit-tastic POS on any operating system.

I just want to view web pages that use it

And if you think Java's bad to look at - you want to try programming a 'droid with it! callback this - implement that - god know what to do with the other!

Whilst the iPad does have it's limitations, with the right Apps it still makes it to the top of my best toys list....

Being the sad geek I am I was siiting by the pool last week in Rhodes with mine, connected to work via RDP troubleshooting and fixing a VLan issue on one of our Voip Switches....

And they pay me to do that, it's so cool....

Yes but for £400 you can get quite a lot of Lego

Some of the apps I've seen are great - the integration of the stop animation/video editor beats my netbook combination of Helium Frog/Win Mov Maker hands down - but its not twice as good but it is twice the price and my netbook can view/run anything on the web.

I just think not being able to view/use a fair percentage of the web fully is a real shame in what otherwise is a lovely device.

Its like having a merc instead of an astra and not being allowed to drive on dual-carriage ways
