I've been looking at smartphones recently and while it's not out yet the new Dell Windows 7 phone looks quite handy.. its the only one with a slideout keyboard.. just another thought to consider... easy to find on youtube with a search for "dell windows phone 7"

o2 lockdown is useless.. need something that will take a 3 sim..

its for my old man, hes after just a biggish screen, touchscreen, and will work on 3, and also work with 3 skype

the HTC HD 7 looked good.. a few of my colleagues use the HD 2 at work .. can you get them on 3 / sim free?

I had a quick go on a HD7 over the weekend.

Technically, it's not much different from the (cheaper) HD2 with the exception of Windows 7 (instead of 6.5). Some forums are full of posts where users are disappointed that it's a new phone, but with technology from 2008!

Some have even managed to get a 'leaked' version of the HTC HD 7 ROM working on the HD 2!

As an alternative you could always look at the HTC Desire HD (Andriod) which is available on all networks except O2! and is of higher specification.
