Windows CE and Windows Mobile. Same Beast?

Following my experiments with the Witstech A81E running Android 2.2 and CoPilot Live 8 I'm now looking at installing Windows CE on there and running TomTom, which has been ewidely reported as compatable with CE (V.6.0 btw). Now on the TomTom site I can only see versions for Windows Mobile, and a lot of researchign I've been doing seems to indicate that quite a lot of Mobile and CE apps are teh same and both platforms are largely compatable. Does anyone know if this is indeed the case?

    Dos

It is the case because windows mobile uses Windows CE kernal has noted here Windows Mobile - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I hope you realiase that it aint easy to install windows ce, you have to like build an image to install it plus include drivers on it I believe

    Hope that helps

They are not exactly the same as CE has more full featured APIs in most cases than WM, there is a very large intersection between them though which makes a large chunk of the stuff compatible.

Thaks both of you. I have the Windows CE image for several Android devices, but my main focus is the Witstech A81E. I have so far experimented with CoPilot Live 8 on it very successfully. I have since found out that TomTom runs of Windows CE and was wantign to experiment, however the TomTom site only sells the Windows Mobile version (TomTom Navigator 7 for Windows smartphone - TomTom) and was looking to see whether I could have used this version or sourced a CE version.
