The problem I am getting is that when out of 3G coverage my iPhone 4 is dropping down to GPRS (circle icon) which is too slow for Google maps to update if I am out and about outside 3G coverage?
I suspect that three don't want to have to pay Orange for too much bandwidth so they seem to be limiting the speed when off their network to an pathetic 56Kbit/s (measured with speedtest.net iphone app)
Come back o2 all is forgiven. This never happend with you and you're Edge coverage was excellent! Just signed up for 2 year contract with three this week ARGH!!

Also on a side not no visual voicemail on 3 (never used it) and no free Wifi at the Cloud. On the plus side tethering works on 3.
On a complete side note, I LOVE YOUR SIG

10th August 2010, 01:00 PM #6 Don't you have something like a 30 day cancelation period? If it's still in that timeframe cancel the contract and go back to O2.

10th August 2010, 01:03 PM #7 When I use O2 it is rare to see an edge connection, it's normally 3G in cities and GPRS in the countryside. 3 / Orange are probably not investing any money in edge as it is a dead end, why put up more edge towers when you can put up 3G instead?

11th August 2010, 07:33 AM #9 I assumed I couldn't as I'm not covered by distance selling as I bought it in store. Think I fell for those cool 70's style adverts.
Will check the small print on contract!
The three store hadn't even heard of edge!!!

11th August 2010, 08:52 AM #10 I would take it back, if bought through retail it's covered by consumer law, so just go back and demand a refund claiming the goods are not of merchantable quality.
