Acer Backup & Ubuntu
Hi
Bought an Acer Aspire One ZA3 at the weekend. I want to put ubuntu on but want to back it up first. When you go into the Acer Recovery to do a backup it says that no optical device is found - which is true - but there isnt an option to backup to hard disk.
1- Is there another way to back up everything first
2 - Has anyone install Ubuntu on a Aspire One? Does it work?

I went through the whole support process asking how I could do it, even updating the backup program and connecting my external writer while doing it.
Eventually they came back saying that it was possible using there tools to create a recovery dvd, but I could buy one for £50 by calling the Acer Store.

I have an Acer Aspire One running Ubuntu and it all works out of the box so to speak appart from the card readers. Is the version of Ubuntu going to be the normal version or the Netbook Remix. I would recomend the Netbook version, if that is the case then the card readers will work if you have a card plugged in at boot. after boot they are hot swappable. you can get a live CD of ubuntu that will let you boot and run Ubuntu from the disk so you can try it out without changing anything on the drive.
