02 XDa ii on Win Mobile 5 home screen issue

When my pda loses power and resets it loses all email settings. This is no big problem as it is easy to recreate. The only issue is that it keeps a record of these settings somewhere - and I can't reuse the same name for the recreated connection setting. Also on the home screen the names of all the previous connections appear under email, although clicking on them does nothing. Is there any way I can get rid of these as soon I'm going to have a huge long list of redundant connections.

have you tried turning the phone off safely after you'd made the changes?
