I figured this would be the best place to put this, if not, sorry!
I have found an app for the TomTom sat nav systems which when configured, allow your device to record where you have been as appose to just telling you where to go.
Once you download the zipped folder, extract it to the tomtom HD and reboot the sat nav. after that it will log all the details of your journey so you can download the maps into Google earth or view in Google maps, it even records your speed along the whole journey as well as each time the engine stops and starts etc. It's pretty much a 'blackbox recorder' for your car. Best of all, it's free!
The one which is available for download is version 8.1, however I have managed tog et V8.2 after making a 2 euro donation and also converted it to display the speeds in MPH as appose KM/h and converted the language to EN as appose to Italian.
If you want the 8.2 version, feel free to PM me and I shall send it on. Saves us all donating!!
One thing I will say however, it does take an extra 30 secs or so for your tomtom device to boot after this is installed, it also sometimes reboots as well. Just in case you’re ever in a hurry!

5th October 2008, 06:34 PM #3 It depends what satnav system Garmin use, the event_logger application is configured to work with 'NavCore' versions 5.0 and above, the best thing to do is suck k it and see so to speak, all you have to do is extract the files into the root of the tomtom device and reboot, there should then be additional icons on your menu on your sat nav system. Let me know if it works.
