    blown up eee?

Got an eee 900 for the old man to take away when he goes on business. He forgot to take the charger with him, so plugged in a 18v charger from his laptop. He says the red light on the front came on, but when he tried to turn it on it didnt work and the red light went out. I reckon he's 'd it completely, but he reckons these things are fitted with a breaker or something to stop the whole thing going bang. Is there a simple fuse that can be replaced or something in these? Or does he now own a 300 brick?
