I want a small, lightweight, PHONE with decent data. Predominantly the phone will be used as a phone with the occasional text message sent and received.
I also need to connect to the phone via bluetooth from my Nokia n800.
The Sony Ericsson W910i seems perfect - small, lightweight, HSDPA (not that I can use ut yet), etc., etc.
Unfortunately I have just read a shed-load of horror stories so I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this phone (or possibly an equivalent from another manufacturer)?

3rd June 2008, 08:58 PM #2 Why not join the club and get the HP Mobile Messengers that myself, DB and many others have got? and before you say its not a phone IT IS, it looks nothing like a PDA like the others its phone shaped, sized and weight and looks just like one.

The reason is that the data connectivity isn't as quick. EDGE really isn't all that great - no UMTS or HSDPA support on the HP devices (making them even slower than my home broadband!

4th June 2008, 07:40 PM #6 The 600-series seems to e 3G but that's another £100+ again plus it's bigger. This is all getting away from me wanting a small phone that doesn't need PIM features but does have 3G.
Does anybody know of a reason not to buy the SE?

Again, it doesn't meet the 3G requirements - it only has EDGE (although the soon to be released N96 does have HSDPA). The N95 is also bigger than the SE.

8th June 2008, 09:52 PM #9 my girlfriend has the w910i. using it for basic phone/text messages and dont think she's had a problem with it yet. she doesn't use any btooth or inet on it so can't comment on that. she did say the camera is slightly lower quality than some of the samsung phones she's had before.
sorry cant help more specifically, but from what she's said its a decent phone

9th June 2008, 02:05 PM #10 My GF has the same. Excellent quality as you'd expect from SE. My next purchase will be either the SE g900i, or Samsung i900.
Both are touch screen, the former a Symbian and the latter Windows Mobile 6. The reason I want one or the other is Tomtom and Slingbox compatibility.

9th June 2008, 03:01 PM #11 Well in the end I decided to go for something a bit more bling... since Vodafone changed the prices of everything. LG Secret was my choice - has the data connections that I wanted and it is slimmer than the SE (although a few mm longer).
The best bit about the phone though... fishing using the inbuilt accelerometer!!!!
