    Ipad in a washing machine....

A member of staff's little boy has managed to somehow add their Ipad (personal one) to the washing pile and is now a very shiney "Shiney"!
However the screen no longer works - they can hear it starting up and going in the background and the alarms still trigger for ebay etc however the screen itself is black.

Does anyone know of any tricks or companies (pref in Wales) they can use to bring it back?

Timpson's shoe repairers across the country now do screen replacements in phones and tablets. I have no idea if they are any good.

How long ago was it? I dropped my iPhone in water recently and the screen was a mess (although it was in the water a lot less time than a full washing cycle!) but after a few days - nearly a week - it was nearly back to normal. But it wasn't completely black so that's maybe not helpful!

My OH just replaced his iPhone screen with parts bought on eBay and it seems fine. But you can't buy original apple parts I don't think - only if you pay a 'proper' company to do it.

(Not sure how helpful this was actually?!)

Not that it helps but here is an example of what it might have recorded when it was made "Shiney":

We had a teacher drop her iPad and we took it to Timpson's. Took a week and cost £100, both exactly as they said. I don't know if that is expensive or not, but it was very convenient.

one of the teachers at my old school placed his ipad on a street cone whilst doing bus duty, it fell off and got ran over by one of the buses. The screen was broken but I still managed to get all the data off

Two things I'd check are, make sure the ribbon cable is still connected to the motherboard of the unit as after going round and round it could have become dislodged. If that is perfectly fine there is a product called reviveaphone, if you follow the instructions it WILL completely repair the iPad and for around £12 it's great!
