    iPad (internet) malware / virus?

    Hi All,

No experience with iPads really so need a bit of help with a sticky situation....

The Head just brought me her iPad with a Safari page open showing:

    Almost there!

Now is your chance to WIN
    an Apple iPhone 5S!

    Click "OK" for details

    OK

We can't exit this screen, we can't back out, Safari opens this screen even if you close it and re-open it...

I don't want to click OK....

What do you do to kill this thing?!

    Kol.

Have you closed Safari, opened the app switcher (double click home button) and swiped up the app (iOS7) or held the app and clicked the X (iOS4+ I think) and re-opened?

I've never heard of an iPad doing this sort of thing, odd! How about a full restart of the iPad?

Oh well, no worries, I 'fixed' it....

With some Google-fu, I found another forum question:

How can I keep Safari from re-opening my tabs from my last session?

It was for the Mac, but one of the the answers was:

You could also hold shift while opening Safari

I held the home button while opening Safari... Go figure...

Yup did the 'kill an app' swipe up, thing is Safari opens the last page (tab) you were on, even if its been closed. Restarted the iPad...

My worry is, if 'anything' did get in, how would I know and how would I remove it?

I should mention it was a 'pop-up' in the centre of the screen, which greyed out the screens behind and made them 'untouchable'...

    Oh for a CTRL+ALT+DEL or a quick ALT+TAB....

Does Safari have a pop-up blocker? I'm guessing so.

To be honest I don't know but it's a very good question. I don't think there is a lot of Malware etc out there for iPad, being such a closed Eco system. BUT something did get through how would you know?

Just a quick question, are you aware of the device being jailbroken at all? I have experienced adware disguising itself as free paid apps on Cydia (the jailbreak version of the AppStore) could be something to look out for.
