The straw that broke the camel's back has just happened when one of our pupils was assaulting members of staff and 999 didnt work.
This log is still in progress of being written as im trying to find all the facts.
Im writing this post to a. build a list of event that happened so we can tell them to get it all out and b. to warn you off. All planning completed by them, bespite being asked to bring the system install date a week forward for testing etc they wouldnt.
BDR installed their new system in August with a go live date of the 16th. They installed the system the week before but couldnt test in until the 16th.
During the install date i found that the installation guy who installed the Mitell 5000 system wasnt yet qualified by Mitel and no exams taken. The first sign of them not knowing the system was he was unaware of the simple function of dialling the phones extention number when no-one was logged in.
Three days before the 16th they finally decided to email me the list of ports and external ip addresses that they required to be open. Luckily after pleading with the LEA who provides the connection to put an emergency job in they agreed.
The 16th came and the analogue lines were cut apart from the 4 backup lines which were going to be incase of interet loss.
It then turns out that their system A didnt support proxies like we said it would need to, we specifically said without supporting proxies you will NOT be able to get out to the net and their reply was it will.
Therefore with no proxy support the 16th came andfunilly enough no calls, the techy replied, our system doesnt support proxies.
We then asked them to run the numbers that we kept (no lines, just numbers) into the 4 backup lines that we were told could have 4 calls, either in or out at the same time. He came back with only 2 lines are actually functional. They cut off the wrong lines.
We then looked into what other numbers they cut off, this included Fax Lines (clearly stated as fax lines on not on the list to be cut, Alarm lines (again not on the list to be cut). When my manager questioned them about this there reply was basically, that your problem, you need to contact BT.
So, the phones still arnt working a week later, with my manage off myself and then even bigger manager contact them throughout the day to say they are working with our LEA to try and get it working. Our LEA also use a VOIP system so can confirm the network can take it
In the end we tell BDR we need phones, you didn’t test the system through the LEA’s network, nor did you do a site survey. We want a separate BT line to get these phones working.
The one good bit that they did was to get this done in in the 48 hours as we already had the BT line.
During this time he ran two more backup lines to the system so we have four, we’ve recently found out that we still only have 3 as he ran a dead line over
After a bit of playing they managed to get it working.
The weekend finally came so we could relax, Monday morning came and we got into work to find no phone system again.
We phoned them up and asked why and to put our numbers through to the backup system which we were told would be done whist on the phone, half a day later it had been completed.
Tuesday came and went, still no VOIP SIP lines,
Wednesday came and two guys arrived after being demanded to come by us. He goes to he server and takes the thing apart pulls some card out and pops it back again and everything sort of works again. Not thinking it may be a faulty server/card they wonder back to the office and sit there for the entire day trying to figure out what happens.
The following are complaints weve been making since the start that still havnt been fixed and causing issues.
1.Random echo on the line (must have been a glitch they say even though it happens every day all day)
2.Phones sounding like the other person is on a old fashion mobile with low signal
3.Certificate error that keeps coming up (ignore that they say, that always good when you get a error to ignore. When I get a check engine light on my car maybe I should just ignore that)
4.Still no way to monitor how many calls are happening (a week now for them to tick a box)
5.Faulty phone (week so far and no replacement)
6. Some number still going through the backup lines ( we can all see the logs but tey are refusing to admit it.
7. WE STILL ONLY HAVE 4 LINES THROUGH THE SIP. We brought more as we were getting people saying they were having trouble getting throu. Because they BDR can't monitor how many current calls there we had to but 5 more. Still doesn't work though as they are still limiting us to 4.
All there replies are to these issues are it must have been a glitch and to monnitor it.
BYE BYE BDR, hope not to meet again.
(thats the clean version of me saying good-bye)
