witch specifically states that she doesn't want anything fancy... You're being off topic really.
It's horses for courses. Depends if you want a low end slower phone, or mid range faster phone I'm sure Witch will decide for herself.

Exactly. Im on an original galaxy Ace, and even as a power user it's more than adequate for my needs. I've even got jelly bean on it.
synaesthesia deal on the Ace 2 sounds good if that's the kind of phone you are after.
I was on about the ace 2 which is only a few months old. New one is due soon too.
Says how much you pay for tarrifs when, as above you pay 16 quid after cashback and only get 100 minutes etc.
I have an HTC desire at the moment. The issue is that I do like a reasonable looking phone but I dont do a lot with it and I dont want to spend a lot of money. I have tried bargaining with 3 but I havent got anywhere at all - they won't ever move for me - which is a pain because it would be a whole lot easier if I could stay with them.
Some good ideas there though - I will look into them
Looking at my last few bills, it looks like I use about 200 minutes of calls max and 300 texts as well as a maximum of 500mb data. (never got up to that )

How much do you want to spend max? Which will determine the phone for you.
£20 max but would like to pay less if poss. I think I would need a slightly higher level of either calls or texts or both because events in my life will mean more calls in the future
Looks good but a bit low on the data?
Scroll next and you will get unlimited data for £19.50

Have you thought about getting a really good SIM only deal and just buying a phone SIM free? For a one of cost the Nexus 4 at £280 is a steal. Say you keep it for 24months, phone = £11.66 per month. 3 are normally pretty good at giving great SIM only deals out to existing customers, just keep at them ;-)
If not, then the Sony phones do seem to be ok, but I've heard quite a few folk having to send them away for repair quite a bit. So long as its at least dual core and 1GB of ram you will be fine I reckon.
