Smart Phones and RM Easy Mail Plus - Can it be done?

Having just dragged myself into the smartphone revolution I have hit a brick wall with getting access to our RM easymail Plus accounts on my Phone (Sony Xperia J running Android on the 3 network). RM Are useless and won't offer any help at all (No suprise there.) It looks as if the phone accepts the incoming server details ok but falls over with the smtp outgoing server. I've tried using the server details for my BT account and also the smtp server details for 3 but nothing seems to work.

Has anyone managed to do it, if so please let me know! The only way I can get in is to create a shortcut in my webbrowser, its an answer but not ideal!

    Cheers

    Steven

I gave up in disgust and channelled my Easymail through a Gmail account. The phone handles gmail and gmail can send and receive via the Easymail account.

Haven't tried it on android before but this has all the settings that are recommended for imap/smtp etc

How to use your Apple iPhone or BlackBerry to receive RM EasyMail Plus emails

I set it up using the link above for my fiancée. The first time I set it up on her iPhone it said couldn't varify but if you just hit try again it worked.

Um, I just set it up as a regular imap account and its worked perfectly on various phones and flavours of Andriod.
There's nothing special about using Easymail on a phone.

If you are connecting via a school Wi-Fi network and you have a council broadband provider you may find they block some SMTP to all but a select few addresses.

I got rid of the security using IMAP and then it worked!
