Tell a phone brand or type by it's MAC address?

Is it possible to determine a phone brand or type from it's MAC address?

In theory the first half of a mac address is linked to a manufacturer, quick google of those should give the results

i tend to use this site MAC_Find: Search results for "0012f0" (Vendor/Ethernet/Bluetooth MAC Address Lookup and Search) which will give you manufacturer based on the first 6 digit of any mac address you type in

It will only tell you the manufacturer of the NIC chipset, which MAY give you a clue but possibly not.
