Well done SIM's and Capita

Had a bit of a panic after the last SIM's upgrade all of sudden no Nova 4 staff phoning we can't extract Time tables etc etc as only our Time tabler accesses Nova 6 and they are off at the moment, so have had to have a bit of a play with Reports (Time Tables) and Reports (Student Lists) in SIM's and I have to say I am very impresed with the amount of information I can get out of this easily as regards Time tables and Class Lists and with the Formatting and adding extra information functionality I know this has been there for some time but I hadn't realised just how powerful this was me being lazy and really not investigating this earlier.

So well done to Capita and SIM's for this.

*steals some of the above enthusiasm and attempts to inject it into certain members of staff here*

I even had one member of staff give me a Hug when I showed her how to use this to extract some infromation she requied because she could no longer get Nova 4.

Our staff hate the fact they can no longer access Nova T4 for timetables for students and staff, Getting Timetables up was so much quicker! Nova could just be left running all day on the task bar! That can't be done with Sims.net when your in all kinds of different screens all day long!

Huh? How is it more difficult to get a timetable in SIMS? Find student, click 'timetable'. Or... find staff, click 'timetable'...

Or, want to do it en-masse, go to reports and choose timetables. Voila.

Seriously, pretty much every example of someone calling for Nova T4 is simply unwilling to learn how to do it in SIMS or T6. T4 is a 16 bit program that is basically as old as some of the members of this site!

Would you still expect to be using Windows 95? No? Then why would you expect to still use Nova T4...

I would ask the question of why your still printing timetables - surely they is an app for that? haha

Could look at adding a SIMS shortcut. If you have use Windows logins (trustedauto), you could even create a shortcut so they can pretend it's Nova-T4 :)

Nah! You have to pay for that!
Just email 'em via SIMS InTouch! Yep you pay for that too, but if one has always had a communications package linked to SIMS, then it is 'free' in one sense!

I can also say that the Timetable Reports in SIMS are very good once you have set them up correctly to the pattern you favour. And remember to save them for future use (either privately or globally!). Also, make sure you warn anybody with Timetable access not to click 'Default' else you will lose the reports you have designed!

(Then you would only need NT4 for very specialised use - as I do!) :)
