FMS windows 7 32bit installation instructions

I havent done this for ages but how do you install fms on windows 7 again? I know you have to install a borland thing and sql thing but cant remember exactly!

there should be a FMSInst.exe in the \setups\FMS folder

You'll need to do the SIMS infrastructure setup, which installs the necessary components, then you can install FMS. This also works on Windows 7 x64.

Cool, so I dont have to install bde, sql native client etc.. anymore? has this just happened with summer release or been like this for a while?

FMSInst.exe should install everything it needs if its not installed already

I concur. No need for infrastructure or anything else. It's all part of the package. I did it last week.

It may depend upon how much your are held back by local support. I did the install 2 or 3 weeks ago and had to run SIMSInfrastructureSetup followed by FMSApplicationSetup.

FMSInst should do the lot, though i did just read some instructions that mentioned installing SIMS first, then FMS, so maybe the infrastructure part is already done as part of the SIMS install. I can't imagine many will have FMS installed without SIMS, though we did have one at our last school as it was a standalone FMS system.

Looky here evening :)

One thing you have to bear in mind is if you use any version of Crystal Reports other than the FMS one on the system (SuccessMaker etc.) some of the FMS reports will be borked. To fix, drop the FMS Crystal Reports DLLs into the FMS folder and all's well again.
